Prayer, Virtue and Discipleship: Keys to Pastoral Ministry

Course Description:
This course aims to enrich the pastoral ministry of participants and to make accessible to them the formative wisdom of Christian mystics and spiritual masters. The short course is therefore, suitable for a wide range of people: those who work in pastoral settings (hospitals, chaplaincies, prisons, in ministry) and those who are simply interested in understanding more about the spiritual life and pastoral ministry. The course will be delivered in three sessions configured thematically, and each will feature particular spiritual masters from the ancient, medieval and modern traditions including John Cassian, Augustine, Teresa of Avila, John of the Cross, Brother Lawrence of the Resurrection, Francis de Sales, and Thérèse of Lisieux.

Planting the Seeds: A LIFE OF PRAYER
This session, “Planting the Seeds” offers formation and formative reading programmes dedicated to the cultivation of a Life of Prayer, particularly lectio divina. This session underscores the importance of a Life of Prayer as the seedbed for Christian conversion and action in the family and parish life.

Tilling the Soil: A LIFE OF DISCIPLESHIP
This session, “Tilling the Soil” underscores the need for cultivating a Life of Discipleship as we are called, committed and consecrated in Christ and His Church.
Monday, February 8th
Reaping the Harvest: A LIFE OF VIRTUE
The third and final session offers the invitation to growth in a life of virtue, particularly those of humility, detachment, poverty of spirit, obedience, and fraternal charity.
Course Tutors:
SUSAN MUTO, PhD is Executive Director of the Epiphany Association. She is a renowned speaker, author, and teacher. Susan has led conferences, seminars, and workshops throughout the world.
LORI MITCHEL MCMAHON currently serves as Program Coordinator at Epiphany Academy and is also a member of the faculty, teaching in the Epiphany Certification Program (ECP) as well as facilitating various other webinars and programs.
